Creating a home is more about the feeling you get

Creating a home is more about the feeling you get when you walk through the door than what you see in the inside.

How do you greet your significant other?

Is it with a smile? A hug? An “I love you”?
Do your kids coming running when they walk through the door?

Mine sure do since I started working, and every day it pulls at my heartstrings. It’s a “Hi Momma” and a “Mom-mom-mom” with toddles, grins, and chatter.

They are what matter. Everything else can stop as I settle into being at home. They want to play, read, and reconnect. The days I do that I feel more at ease.

The days I don’t there tend to be more big emotions, meltdowns, and tantrums.

Being present is the greatest gift we can give to all the special people in our lives, littles or big ♥️

I’d been eyeing play food for so long and decided I could probably make some. So I did! So much simpler than I thought.

Also I gifted a quilt to my first born on their 1st birthday and decided to keep the tradition going.

Here’s to intentional gifting and using what you have. Kids need less not more, but that is a topic for another day.

A few thoughts during the process:
-There is a strategy to getting plaster off walls and ceilings
-hard work is always worth the effort
-my husband and I make a great team
-don’t be afraid to get dirty
-this is going to be so worth it
-what did we get ourselves into?
-I can’t wait to design this space

2nd floor Before(s) 👀 We bought a massive fixe

2nd floor Before(s) 👀

We bought a massive fixer upper (like total gut job and the whole nine yards).

It was built in the 1890’s and hasn’t been lived in since 2006(ish).

Needs a whole lot of TLC and we have started demo on this floor. I’ll be sharing more as time goes on but putting this here to remind myself where we started 🤍
