Why I Started My Blog

why I started my blog

Aside from the obvious reasons of wanting to own a place on the internet, its always been a dream of mine to have a blog. I haven’t always known what the main focus of the blog would be so it has been a work in progress for a few years.

In 2020, I had a lot of time on my hands and decided to start a DIY instagram. We had been in our home for a few months and were itching to change a few things. After watching so many other women use power tools and transform their homes into places they love, I was so inspired to do the same with mine and share the process with my followers. My husband taught me the basics of each power tool. He even gave me a house drill that is all mine. lol

Most of the bigger projects you see here are a joint effort between him and I. He has a better understanding of building, where I have the patience for the finer details like painting and styling.

As for how the blog came to be, I want to have a place where I can look back on old projects. I want to be able to document my evolution and the evolution of my home. I want to share my creations in a place that won’t disappear tomorrow like social media can. I want to have a place where my content can live for many years if needed. While having the creative freedom to switch it up if I want to.

This is essentially the home of my creative hobbies at the moment. You’ll find a lot of home design mood boards, design tips, and room transformations here. I love that home design can change and evolve with each home you live in. This blog is also the place where I share the art of quilting and my recent endeavor of sewing clothes for me and my kids.

I also share what I’m learning as a wife and a homemaker. I love a good declutter project and finding the best ways to make spaces function better.

Regardless of how you found me, I’m so glad that you did. If you want to see what I’m doing daily head over to instagram and follow me over there. If instagram isn’t your thing my newsletter is probably one of my favorite things to create at the moment and it is a great way to stay up to date with the goings on around here.

Being able to be have something that is just for me, to tinker around with, and create content for has been so beneficial for me. It is something that reminds me that I am still that passionate creative girl outside of my titles of wife and mom. At some point, I would love for the blog to provide a sustainable income for our family but I’m so new to the industry that it seems a little intimidating to dive into that aspect of it.

Right now my focus is to create the things I like to consume in a way that feels original and true to who I am. This is my passion project and will always come second to my family. <3 Sincerely thank you for clicking on this post. I hope you learned a little but more about me and my vision for kmdcreates 🙂
