The ONE Thing I Did To Make My Workspace WORK Better

the one thing I did to make my workspace work better

Here is the one thing I did to make my workspace work better.

Let me paint you a picture of what I was doing before I made this change. I am a stay at home mom who has a blog and I sew quite a bit. Before having my daughter, I would work on my creative passions in the early mornings and during my son’s nap times. My computer and sewing machine were set up in the basement. Which worked awesome for me.

I decided to take a two month break from instagram and my blog to adjust to being a mom of two. I had a few sewing projects I wanted to complete during that time. It was so hard for me to actually walk down the stairs and sit at my sewing machine. I felt like I wouldn’t be able to hear my baby if she started fussing. Then watching my two year old while working on things in the basement never ended well. He got into E V E R Y T H I N G.

Knowing all of this I thought you know what would work? If I moved my workspace upstairs

And it has changed E V E R Y T H I N G. My computer is now set up in the corner of our living room, my sewing machine lives in the chest under the window right next to my desk. I am able to hear my baby when she is fussing and allow my two year the freedom to play while I do a bit of work here and there.

There can be times where it is a little bit distracting for me but then I just log off and come back to it when it is a little less chaotic. I love how this new workspace is actually allowing me to work better.

Wondering why I started my blog read more here!

I was hesitant if this would be the right move but it has worked out so far. If it ends up not working out in the long run then I can always move it back downstairs or somewhere else.

I try to be super intentional about the time spent on my computer, phone etc. and this has actually made me more aware of my habits. Some days are certainly better than others but one thing I have started doing is leaving my phone on my desk when I go to bed. I love that it stays on my desk until after I have had breakfast.

How do you make your workspace work better for you?

Would a living room desk be the move for you? Tell me on instagram!
